A pool provides hours of entertainment and fun for your family all summer long. Have you thought of having more fun by throwing pool themed parties? If you are looking for ideas for themes, decorations, food and more, we've put together our favorites.
Always watching movies inside is mundane and boring. Liven up the movie experience by throwing a "dive-in." Move your big-screen television outdoors and fire up one of your favorite water-related movies such as Moana or Soul Surfer. Or rent a projector, hang a sheet and play Jaws for even more excitement. Don't forget a concession table full of popcorn, candy and drinks, and make sure to have plenty of floatation devices.
Everyone loves a tropical vacation, so why not transform your pool into a tropical wonderland and host a Hawaiian Luau? Decorate the area with Tiki torches and tropical flowers. Ask guests to come dressed in their favorite Hawaiian attire, and greet them with leis. Serve Mai Tais (virgin variations for the kids), and have Hawaiian music such as Israel Kamakawiwo?ole playing. For dinner serve a buffet of Kalua pork, macaroni salad, sweet rolls, fresh fruit and other Hawaiian favorites.
If you aren't in the mood for luau food, but you want that tropical feel, why not throw a beach party? Decorate the area with shells and beach toys. Have beach games available to play such as frisbee, volleyball or cornhole. Fire up the grill and serve hamburgers or hot dogs. Put cool-chests around filled with ice and drinks, making it easy for guests to grab drinks whenever they want. All your guests have to do is show up with a swimsuit and be ready for fun.
Looking to host an upscale dinner party, why not have an evening "black-and-white" themed party? String lights around your pool area and set out candles or lanterns on tables. Use other minimal decorations such as fresh cut flowers just as accents. Cover all tables with white table clothes and use your nice tableware and glasses. Serve an elegant meal with wine. Have the adult loungers floating in the pool in case someone wants to lay back and relax, and make sure the children's toys are put away.
Take your friends back to your favorite time and throw a decade themed event. For a 60s theme, pull out the tie-dye, peace signs and flower-power decorations, and play The Temptations or The Rolling Stones on your stereo. For the 70s, disco music and a disco ball will transform your area. If you like the 80s, make sure everything is neon, turn up the Madonna and encourage your friends to have big hair.
